How the water actually flows

  • Cold mains water fills the cylinder, which the boiler heats up and keeps hot
  • When you open a hot tap, stored hot water flows out under mains pressure, no waiting around
  • Central heating water runs in a separate sealed loop between the boiler and your radiators
  • The expansion vessel absorbs pressure changes as that heating water warms and cools
